Robert B. Linton III
10/3/93 - 10/4/04
On October 1st, 2004 we took our children out for a birthday dinner for our son Robert. While we were waiting for our dinner, Robert wanted to see my new drivers license. As Robert studied it he noticed the words "Organ Donor," he then asked me "what does that mean mom?" I told him if something happens to me, I can try help another person in need of living with a part of me. Robert said "where do I sign up?", I said "mommy will take care of it if that's what you want." On October 3rd, on Roberts' 11th birthday, he was hit by an irresponsible driver in our neighborhood. Due to his injuries Robert died on October 4th, 2004. Our wish was to donate his organs since that's what Robert had wanted. We were told, we're very sorry nothing could be harvested due to all the life saving efforts to save Roberts' life. We we're heart broken twice over.
During that next week Robert's friends planned an Ice Tea Sale in Memory of Robert. All the proceeds went to "The Sharing Network for Organ & Tissue Donation." Those 11-12 year old kids raised quite a few thousand dollars in our sons memory.
A few months passed and a letter came from the director of the program letting us know that our Robert is part of the Organ Donor Family and always will be, every donation in any way is a Donor.
In a different way our Robert helped give someone the "Gift of Life"
We thank everyone for their support, genuine kindness & love.
The loss of Robert we will never recover from, he was our treasure.
